Michael's BIG RIDE Across America 2007
Welcome to the trip journal for Michael's BIG RIDE Across America!
The big year is here - Big Ride 2007 is now seven weeks away and it will be here before I know it. Because of your support I have exceeded my latest goal of $15,000.
I wanted to personally say thanks for your support. This ride could never have taken place without the tremendous generosity of so many friends. My original goal was to try and collect the necessary amount so I could participate in this upcoming ride but never did I expect to receive so much support. Because of this support I have been able to establish a lofty goal for all other riders to shoot for in obtaining pledges to support the American Lung Association. These dollars will be used to support programs that will hopefully help everyone breathe cleaner air and reduce consumption of tobacco products by young adults.
Even thought I train almost daily now, in January I began to concentrate my training program specifically for this challenging ride. As I progress in my training I will from time to time keep you updated on how this training is coming along - needless to say I expect to spend many hours on the saddle of my bicycle.
If you know of someone that would like to support my efforts in the Big Ride 2007 please pass along my name with the web site (bigride.org) or drop me a line and I will contact them for pledge support.
The ride begins on 25 June 2007 from Seattle, WA and arrives Washington D. C. on 11 August 2007 around 1300 hours. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible as I cross the finish line - I'm sure that it will be an exciting celebration to finish the last mile of a 3300 mile adventure.
